Oils

Extra Virgin Olive Oil– One of the most heart healthy oils. Use for cooking, roasting, dipping, drizzling, salad dressings. Not recommended for deep frying.

Light Olive Oil– Use for sautéing, when you don’t want the strong flavor of extra virgin olive oil to come out in your cooking.

Peanut Oil– Use for sautéing, stir-fries and deep frying. Also a relatively heart healthy oil.

Canola Oil– Use for baking. A heart healthy butter substitute.

Coconut Oil– Stir-fries and other dishes, especially in Asian cuisine, where you want to emphasize a coconut flavor. Sometimes used as a vegan butter substitute.

Sesame Oil– Works well in Asian stir-fries and many southern Indian dishes.
