Beans and grains are staples of a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet.

I buy these mainly in Whole Foods, other health foods stores, or Indian grocery stores in my area.

Chick Peas (Garbanzo)

Black Beans

Kidney Beans

Red Lentils


Green/French Lentils

Green Split Peas

Yellow Split Peas


White Basmati Rice

Brown Rice


The following are difficult to find in mainstream grocery stores. Look for them in an Indian grocery store. Or order online.

Chana Dal


Moong Dal

Toor Dal


Urad Dal (“White/Ivory Lentils”)
